A strong campaign focusing on a public health issue
Colorectal cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer, but also one of the most preventable when detected early. Through this initiative, the Clinique Sainte-Clotilde aimed to highlight the importance of screening and raise awareness among the people of Réunion about adopting the right habits.
Throughout the day, visitors were able to speak directly with healthcare professionals and take part in educational workshops designed to make the subject accessible to everyone.
Interactive workshops to understand screening
Several educational activities with a fun approach were organised:
- ‘Let’s Talk About the Colon’: to better understand the disease, its risk factors and methods of prevention
- “The Screening Superheroes”: a practical demonstration of the screening kit and how to use it
- “Spot Your Polyp!”: a game to illustrate the importance of detecting polyps early
- “Digestive Challenge - Taste the Test”: a participatory workshop on diet and bowel function
These activities helped to create a friendly space for discussion, promoting understanding and overcoming barriers to screening.
A day marked by high attendance

There was a strong turnout, demonstrating the public’s interest in these prevention initiatives:
- Around 100 people were approached and welcomed throughout the day
- Around 50 testing kits were made available to the public
- Around 20 one-to-one consultations were held with healthcare professionals
- Around 50 people took part in the educational workshops
To mark the occasion, Clinique Sainte-Clotilde was decked out in blue, the colour symbolising colorectal cancer awareness. The teams, particularly those in oncology and outpatient care, threw themselves into the effort, decorating the premises with care and helping to create a warm and committed atmosphere throughout the clinic.
A key message: prevention is better than cure
The message conveyed on this day is clear: screening can save lives. When detected at an early stage, colorectal cancer has a cure rate of over 90%.
As Doctor of Pharmacy Henri Fievet points out::
“To stay fit, you shouldn’t wait until you’re ill to look after your health; by then, it’s often too late.”
The Mars Bleu campaign therefore encourages people aged between 50 and 74 to undergo regular screening tests.
A long-term commitment to the health of Réunion’s residents
